Here We Come a Caroling... Jill's December 2012 Playlist

Listen here:
Jill's monthly: DECEMBER 2012

Hello and Happy Holiday Season!
Like a good batch of holiday chex mix, salty, sweet and nutty go great together. Traditional holiday tunes lovingly juxtaposed with random songs I just like. Sounds like another Jill playlist.  Rock on!

1. Here We Come a Caroling - Perry Como
Let's start off with a most traditional ditty, worthy of our grandparents hi-fi.

2. Five Golden Rings - Dr. Sound Effects
Completely random find when searching for "sounds of Christmas".  The fact that someone actually produced a sound effect for each verse of 12 days of Christmas makes me smile.

3. Love You When I'm Drunk - MIKA
Thanks to Brant, for introducing me to the delightfully peppy, yet poignant, MIKA.

4. The Winter - Cake
I love Cake, and this is Cake's kind of like a holiday song.  Moody, kind of depressing, but hey, we've all been there.

5. Uptight - The Ohio State University Marching Band (Stevie Wonder)
The perfect antidote to that depressing Cake song. This will lift even the grinchiest spirits.

6. Backbone - The Tins
More happy medicine. Nice Casio beat reminds me of Jimmy Fallon holiday skit music.

7. Baby I'm Yours - Breakbot feat. Irfane
More upbeat happy music.  Feels like an AM 70s radio disco hit... or is it? either way, it's sunshine in winter time.

8. Norgaard - The Vaccines
Jangle Jangle hyper guitar fun from that Vaccine band that I love.

9. More - The Come Ons
an actual hipster holiday song from random compilation.  mesmerizing.

10. Give It To Me - J. Geils Band
Because hardly a month goes by that I don't think of J.Geils Band.  And in the spirit of giving this is a natural fit.

11. Por Ti - We All Together
Token foreign language song.  Latino BeeGees sound. You know you love it.

12. Soul Santa - Brook Benton
Dug up this soulful holiday song -- gives a great visual of new interpretation of the man in the red suit.  "At least he'll do what he can... no matter what he looks like..."

13. Stay The Night - Willy Clay Band
just one of those country-ish band love songs with the perfect touch of mandolin.  I could shop to this.

14. Red Wine at Noon - Joy of Cooking
My new favorite not old song that sounds like a really old song.  Like "The Weight" you can imagine your hungover house guests waking up to this, crawling to the kitchen table and pouring that first drinkof the day...

15. Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneaolis - Tom Waits
Okay, to me, most Tom Waits songs sound the same... but sometimes it's just what you want to hear, it's a good sound.  And I'll admit, the title of this song just looks good on the list.  Is that wrong?

16. Come On! Let's Boogey to the Elf Dance!  - Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan was born to make Christmas music. Like jingle bells are in his DNA. So Let's Boogey! Kmart is closed!
